1st Grade Light/Sound Wave project
For this project, our class worked with 1st graders. We learned about light and sound waves, and the 1st graders learned about light. In the beginning of the project, we had to teach the 1st graders what we knew about light or sound waves. They then showed us their inventions they created based on what they learned in their class. We worked together to create their invention, and if it was too complicated, we came up with new ideas that they would be okay with. We taught them about how the product connects to light or sound, and they presented them on their exhibition.
Our 1st grader wanted to make glowing vegetables that were actually edible, but we didn't have the right materials to make it. Instead we talked about how our eyes see different color by the intensity of the light waves, so we had three clear plastic containers with water and food coloring inside it. The colors were the three physics primary colors which are: red, blue, and green. We showed how when you mix or put two primary colors together, they create the different subtractive colors which are: cyan, magenta, and yellow. We then explained why our eyes see new colors when they mix together.
