The purpose of this project was to learn about different drugs and disorders. We learned about how these drugs and disorders affect people in a variety of ways, whether it was chemically, physically, or emotionally. We learned about the different symptoms, side effects, and long term affects of these drugs and mental illnesses. We then created an interactive piece/product that best represented and best taught about the drug we researched.
The disorder my partner and I researched was anxiety. The piece we created to teach anxiety was a board game. We chose a board game that was the shape of a brain because anxiety is a mental disorder and mainly affects the brain. Our game was basically a trivia board game. The game has a path, and every time you landed on a pink space on the board, you were asked a question relating to anxiety, specifically panic disorder and obsessive compulsive disorder. You would go up or back a couple spaces depending on whether you got the question wrong or right. The objective was to answer as many questions as you can correctly, and reaching the end of the game before your opponent.
I contributed to the project in multiple ways. First, I helped research about our topic of anxiety in general, along with researching my specific topic OCD. I also helped design the board game. In our board game, we had to create question cards, and I came up with half the questions. I helped paint the final product too.
Out of all the things we did, I am most proud of the whole project/product in general. We thought creating the actual board game with the laser cutting and all the different parts would be challenging. I am proud that we were able to finish the product even if it was barely on time.
If I could change any part of the project, I would want to change how its played. I would've wanted to make the game more creative instead of just answering questions every time you landed on a certain space. I felt like it was to simple. But overall, I'm proud of the product my partner and I created because we put a lot of time and effort into it.
